The Dark Knight: Heath Ledger Nails the Joker

I was one of those individuals that purchased my ticket to see The Dark Knight in IMAX the day they were available for purchase on Fandango, which I’ve blogged about before.

I’ll swiftly state that even though I was expecting it, I was still somewhat surprised at the volume of people in attendance at the theater on opening night. Popularity for the IMAX movie premiering at 12:01am was so popular that it sold out and they added a 3:15am show after ours motion picture was over. From the looks of the lobby it sold out as well. On top of that, I think they sold out a number of other screens that night as well. But let’s get to the movie.

Unless you’re living under a rock you’re more than likely familiar with the story behind Heath Ledger and his unexpected death after the filming of the motion picture. Let it be stated that Ledger’s performance as The Joker was worthy of each award, statue and recognition an actor can earn and deserve. If it weren’t for the legendary performance of Ledger, the performances of everyone else were well to mention too. Aaron Eckhart as “Harvey Dent / Two-Face” was perfect! I hadn’t read much of anything about his part in the motion picture so it was a great gift and surprise to enjoy his performance. Christian Bale was dead-on target as Batman and Bruce Wayne again too.

The one performance that I didn’t really like in the movie was Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes, the love interest of Eckhart’s Harvey Dent, but also holds a spark for Bruce Wayne. I’m not sure who the better actress would have been to play the part but Maggie nor Katie Holmes in Batman Begins really did anything for me in the role.

Now with all of that I figured I’d spotlight “The Dark Knight Official Motion picture website” here on Uncover the Internet. The website gives loads of additional details about each of the main characters in the film along with media, photos, mobile games and iPhone apps.

One bit of trivia, did anyone else think that the bean counter guy that was going to expose who Batman really was was also Heath Ledger? He just looked like a clean-cut version of him in the film with short hair. I thought that would have been a really interesting twist for some reason, but the actor was actual Joshua Harto as Reese.
