If you want the future, forget the past. That’s the hard lesson learned by Akimbo, a company that initially made set-top boxes to put online video on Television sets. They later tried to reinvent themselves as a turnkey solution for Big Media to control on the internet video content.
Akimbo closed down yesterday. Hell, I had never even heard of them until they died. If you’re going inside on the internet video, go full speed ahead and embrace its openness. Don’t tether yourself to the TV.
