Tweet! Tweet! Tweet!

If you have an over-zealous Twitter pal or want to avoid a blast of tweets for a little while, Twitter snooze is a nice friendly solution.

Basically, it’s an addition to Twitter ettiquette, so that you don’t have follow and unfollow with the social implications of being a bit of an inconsistent jerk;)

When you “snooze” a pal, Twitter will send him/her an email alerting that person that you are now following them again (not unlike when you follow/unfollow). Hopefully, this will get improved over time. What’s so amazing to me, though, is that we’re developing a polite culture around our online behaviors - who knew that tweeting would require such trappings.

Apple just updated its iMac line of computers. The base configuration of the updated iMac sports a 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo processor, 6MB shared L2 cache and a 1066MHz front side bus.

Processors up to 3.06Ghz and an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB GDDR3 Memory are upgrades available to the 24″ model.

There are some component upgrades mostly to the processor and video card aspect but most of the iMac stays the same. There’s no radical difference to it. So owners of the previous gen iMac shouldn’t fret. If you’re not a power user your machine will still do fine.

Read Apple’s press release here. The tech specs of the iMac is here.

Mark Ishikawa

BayTSP CEO Mark Ishikawa, whose company that sends all those indiscriminate takedown notices (a million a month!) to YouTube on behalf of Viacom, has a funny take on copyright law. He complains that YouTube’s copyright filtering isn’t doing its “job”.

Two things, Ishikawa:

1) YouTube is a DMCA safe harbor. As such, it falls upon the copyright holder to send takedown notices. Stop complaining that YouTube is not doing your job for you.

2) DMCA takedown notices require sworn statements. You send lots of inaccurate takedown notices. That means you’ve committed multiple counts for perjury.

Corporate dogs should know their place. STFU, Mark Ishikawa.

Once again, CBS CEO Les Moonves reaps the benefits of his courage inside online video. Streaming all the NCAA March Madness games earned CBS $23 million in revenue. They guessed (correctly) that this particular content was very well-suited to the availability of the medium: 92 percent of online basketball watching was done at work, “demonstrating that we are adding a whole new audience to our existing content and making bosses throughout America very angry with us,” says the ever-irreverent Moonves.

Favoring the superdistribution of online video over the artificial scarcity of TV has paid off for CBS so far. Abundance leads to value, baby.

If you’re a tea snob, I mean ,connoisseur, as I am, you know it’s all about the process - steep it too long and it’s bitter; too short and it’s colored water.

TeaCubes takes the guessing out of the equation by placing the tea bag on a timed retractable spool so it pulls the teabag out of your mug in exactly three minutes.

Designed by Jieun Yang & Hanah Suh, it’s only in the concept stage at this point, but you can admire it at Yanko Design.

fc-mobile.jpg

Oh, man, my husband will never let me live this one down. Nearly an entire drawer in our spare-room dresser, you see, has been home to an original Nintendo console and a stack of 8-bit game cartridges he picked up several years ago for no apparent reason other than the fact that he saw it at a store. He’s always been adamant about keeping the retro set, Duck Hunt gun and all, and now I finally know why.

He’s been waiting for this crazy-looking FC Mobile portable game system to hit the market. Designed for those enormous NES cartridges that often required a little “blowing into” to work properly when I was a kid, the handheld is equipped with a 2.4-inch color display, runs on three AA batteries, and can even hook up to a TV for big-screen playback (you know, to make the most of those awesome graphics).

Since I shouldn’t lie and say that something like this wouldn’t complement the Sega Mega Drive handheld he has rather nicely, I may as well head over to eBay and pick one up for about $50 right now.

I’m really happy with companies don’t forget the little people or minority such as people with disabilities. Why? I’m one of them. Most of us have had to take crap through no fault of our own and to be treated unfairly. So when companies such as AT&T does something to help make the lives of people with disabilities easier, I feel good.

AT&T released an iPhone plan for people with disabilities. Realizing that people with hearing impairment, speech problems or something of that sort rely on data services rather than voice calls, they have come up with an unlimited texting, web browsing and email plan for qualified people with disabilities. Way to go AT&T!!!

So if you or you know anyone with a speech or hearing disability point this out to them. It may make life easier for them plus they get an iPhone. How cool is that?!

Read the article at Sacramento Business Journal.

Here’s Apple’s iPhone accessibility page. Here’s AT&T disability resource page.

Forbes reports that the iPhone is coming to Canada and the provider of choice is Rogers Communications. Rogers made this announcement today together with the release of its first quarter results.

Rogers is Canada’s leading carrier. It will give Apple access to around 6 million post paid subscribers.

The article hints about the fact that the 3G version of the iPhone is slated to come out soon. The lack of details provided by Rogers might suggest that they are awaiting a new version of the iPhone, hence they need to wait for Apple to release the details.

It’s great that Canada will soon see the iPhone. This hopefully is the start of more international releases of the iPhone this year. Philippines puh-lease be one of them.. I doubt though…
