Finally! A feature that most Yahoo Messenger users have been wanting, something that the Windows counterpart has had since time immemorial. Voice!
Yahoo Messenger 3.0 Beta 3 is now available and it comes with voice. Mac users can now have voice chats with other Yahoo Messenger users for both Mac and Windows. You can also make PC-to-phone calls via the Yahoo! Phone Out. Yahoo Phone In allows you to receive calls on your computer. Awesome!
Another feature that’s great is also voicemail via email. People can now send you voicemail and you’ll receive it via email.
I’m happy that Yahoo Messenger for Mac finally has this feature. Having tried it a little bit, I have one gripe. Video chat is still a chore. True Yahoo has web cam and voice now but in order to do video chat you have to separately enable video and voice. Unlike iChat or Skype video conferencing is just one click.
Voice quality is good though. I tried it with my friend and we could hear each other quite clearly.
There are other stability and performance improvements as well as user experience upgrades. All in all a great step up. This is a must download for Mac users.
